Really Fun
- Farewell - Celeste : This game, had a while fun gameplay loop it wasn't that difficult throughout most of the game so this ending being a challenge was a vey nice cherry on-top, it made the ending feel deserved rather than just given to me.
Fun
- Dead God - The Binding of Isaac : This is the longest that any of these have taken. The second longest, Elden Ring being 154 hours is only a FOURTH of the time it took for this AND that game had many playthroughs that didnt even try to get more achievements. Isaac took a whopping 571 hours. The fact that Isaac is such a fun game willed me through this. Near the end it was a bit of a grueling experience with just needing to clear a few endings with one or two terribly hard characters. (Fuck Tainted Jacob) I just wish it just didn't take so long. Isaac is the best rogue-lite anyone has ever made.
Not too Bad
- Peaks of Yore - The Solemn Tempest : This one must have been the shortest of all the achievements. While each of the tries took a long time, as falling down meant losing hours of work, each individual jump wasn't that hard compared to other mountains besides for some difficult cruces, just that you had to maintain and focus for hours on end. So if you're good at the game (I am) it only takes like 10 hours total. Which, sounds like a lot but it's WAY better than 571.
Boring
- Elden Ring Nightreign - Nightreign : This was very easy and I only did it because I wanted all the FromSoft achievements, it was basically just playing as every character and beating the final Nightlord which is like, just playing the game? unlike the other FromSoft achievements where I really had to try to get the final achievement. Additionally, I was kinda bored of Nightreign when attempting this. Because it JUST came out and I played a shit ton with friends and was semi burnt out. So that didn't really not help my enjoyment of getting this.
- Getting Over It With Benet Foddy - So Over It. : Does beating Getting Over It fifty times sound fun to you? No? Wow! This is a hard sell! But seeing how fast I could get to the top was interesting. I think my best time was like... eight minutes? I also took a long break at thirty wins and did the last ones a few months later so overall, boring but not soul crushing.
- Elden Ring - Elden Ring: By the time I decided to get this, I already sunk like four full runs into Elden Ring so most of the "get this ending" achievements I already had. So it was a really boring collect-a-thon AND I had to make a brand-new character and go through the early game slog where your build sucks and you have to do a bunch of boring shit for the first few hours or so. But I finished the game with the Moonlight Greatsword which is poetic so I enjoyed it overall.
Not Fun
- Dark Souls Remastered - The Dark Soul : Like Elden Ring, it was a big collect-a-thon inside a grueling old game. Beyond my first playthrough it was just following the path in my head that I had and really hoping I didn't fuck it up. The entire Dark Souls series also had this really cool thing where you need to get all spells, legendary weapons and fully level-up at least one of every type of enhancement which just takes a long time because you cant fully level up every single one in one playthrough. So every single playthrough I had to go get the embers I needed to enhance the weapons I wanted. Which are scattered across the game world in random, hard to reach places. SO ANNOYING! But a bit of this was my own fault as I absorbed all of my boss souls in my first, casual playthrough. So I couldn't get all the Boss Weapons (Boss weapons? MMHMM) until my next. Live and Learn.
- Dark Souls Three - The Dark Soul : Like Elden Ring, I already had a playthrough under my belt by the time I started so it was easier but more of the same with Dark Souls One but with the really cool edition that new things get added with new game plus cycle. GRAHHHHH I fucking hated trying to find some shitty ring that I will never use for that damn ring achievement. Along with this, unlike Dark Souls One where you can find / easily grind the covenant items you needed, this game made me farm for HOURS on those damn stairs. Terrible experience, for one of the covenants I formed an alliance with a few dudes on steam to trade killing each other to get through it just a bit faster
Terrible
- Dark Souls Two: Scholar of the First Sin - The Dark Soul: This takes everything annoying about Dark Souls Three like the new game plus items, and covenant grinding then throws it on-top of a BAD game. This game is not fun, the FromSoftware polish I expected from the other games was not present. Especially around enemy placement, bosses and areas so needing to go through it several times to pick up new items ruined me. I ended up apologizing to my friends, family, and my god Fuck this game. If you like it that's fine I can see how someone could like it but man I do not like it.
